EC&M Limited’s (ECM) long-term business partner CPB Contractors (CPB) has awarded ECM the Contract for the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) works at the Caval Ridge Southern Circuit Project. This coal mine upgrade project encompasses a new 11km overland conveyor, a new ROM receival facility, several transfer stations and associated E&I infrastructure. This project will vastly improve raw coal handling and transportation efficiencies as the product is currently being trucked by road to the Coal Wash Plant Facility.
The mine site is owned and operated by BHP Mitsui Alliance (BMA) and is located approximately 180km west of Mackay in Central Queensland. The E&I elements of the project are currently scheduled to be delivered on site from January 2018 to April 2018, with significant planning and procurement activity to be undertaken beforehand.
With the export coal industry enjoying a resurgence in commodity pricing, this project should position ECM well in this market sector as the coal owners begin to expend capital to take advantage of a more stable pricing environment for coking and thermal coal.
