Project Overview

The Christmas Creek Expansion Project consisted of the construction of an ore processing plant, stockyard and train loadout facility to increase the export capacity of Fortescue Metals Group’s (Fortescue) iron ore operations. It also included the extension of a railway system from Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine to Christmas Creek.

ECM executed the works through a joint venture with Goodline (G-ECMJV), which encompassed the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation erection and installation works for the stockyard and train loadout facility works.

Scope of Work

  • Installation of all electrical, control instrumentation, LV fibre optic and HV cabling and integration of two new 11kV / 415VAC switchrooms.
  • Installation of all conveyor systems including the additional vendor ore load out packages.
  • Pre-commissioning and testing of all equipment and systems for the facility.
  • Interfacing between greenfields and brownfields sites in order to maintain existing plant operations.
