Project Overview

EDL NGD (WA) Pty Ltd (EDL) signed a power purchase agreement with regional power corporation Horizon Power to supply electricity to the West Kimberley towns of Broome, Derby, Looma, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.

EDL built an LNG plant in the Maitland industrial estate about 20kms from Karratha and transported the gas by road to the West Kimberley communities where it was stored close to the power stations.

ECM were the managing contractor for all SMP and E&I works which were a key part of delivering innovative and cost effective power solutions to remote regions of Western Australia. The project provided numerous economic, social and environmental benefits to the community through increased employment opportunities and reduced noise and emissions from the new facilities. The development also brought a new fuel source into the region.
