The Sino Iron Project comprises the development of a large green fields iron ore mine, processing plant, stockpiling and export facility located at Cape Preston, approximately 80 km to the southwest of Karratha, and 1490km north of Perth, Western Australia.
ECM was awarded the structural steel, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and piping installation works required for the addition of 4th stage pumps at the concentrate pump station. This work also included HV cable trench civil works, loading, transportation, offloading, storing, survey work, and testing
Scope of Work
- Installation of 2 (off) new slurry pumps in series to tie-in with the existing pumps and piping at the Concentrate pump station facility
- Installation of 3 (off) new packaged gland water pumps at concentrate pump station
- Supply and installation of new maintenance access platforms pipe support structures, pipe & limit supports, cable tray structures, small bore pipes, fittings, modification works on existing pumps, pipes, and support steel structures to complete the works.
- Civil works: construction of additional concrete foundations for pipe supports at concentrate pump station and construction of 2(off) HV electrical cable trenches with trafficable lids near the power plant including the removal of existing cables and re-installation with upsized new HV electrical cables within the new trenches
