Project Overview

Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd own and operate the Yurralyi Maya Power Station near Karratha in Western Australia to provide a power supply to support their operations in that region.

IHI Engineering Australia Pty Ltd was awarded the EPC contract by Hamersley Iron Pty Limited to design, procure and construct an additional gas turbine generator (GTG) unit, having a capacity of 40MW at the existing power plant.

The contract awarded to ECM included structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation (SMPEI) construction works and commissioning support work.

Scope of Work

  • Steel structure erection.
  • Turbine installation.
  • Generator and turbine installation and alignment.
  • Specialist mechanical and piping installation.
  • Cable ladders, conduit and cable support systems.
  • HV, LV, control, instrumentation and communications cabling.
  • Control and instrumentation equipment installation.
